RC Model Airplanes/Cars/Boats - wing servos

Expert: Ken Myers - 6/2/2008

Question
I am building a 4 star 60 w/dual wing servos, when checking, both servos move in the same direction, acting like flaps??? Everything is futaba, no computer radio.

Answer
Hi Paul,

When setting up dual servo ailerons, the physical hook-ups should be opposite each other.  If the arm with the pushrod for the right aileron is off the left side of the servo it should be the opposite for the other servo.
A long time ago, Futaba had "reverse" servos.  I don't believe they still do, but if you happened to be using one of those with a "standard" servo, then the hook-ups would be on the same side.
In any case, switching the arm with the pushrod connected to it 180-degrees on one of the servos will get the ailerons working like ailerons instead of flaps.
Enjoy the 4 Star.  It's a fun plane.

Sincerely,
Ken
