RC Model Airplanes/Cars/Boats - gas

Question
QUESTION: hi matt.
im goin to get a rc gas 4wd magic wheel monster truck and i was needing to know if i just add regular unleaded 87gas or if i have to buy somekind of special gas. my friend said that there was something called blue thunder but do i run it on blue thunder or mix blue thunder and gas or do i even need it. heres the link to see the truck if needed ...http://www.sicorpusa.com/gas_rc_car/08341T2_A.htm#04

ANSWER: Hi Chris,

First, gas r/c cars run on a nitromethane-alcohol mix (similar to what top fuel dragsters use). Blue Thunder is a brand but there are many others as well. It comes in different amounts of nitromethane content. I would recommend 20% for that truck.

Secondly, that truck seems to be a re-branded Traxxas T-Maxx or a really good knockoff.   If that is true then parts should be interchangeable (and easy to find).

Good luck.
Matt

QUESTION: ok well is it goin to cost me a forturne to run my truck.how long would a quart of blue thunder last if i run it 2 hours a day 5 days a week

Answer
Hey Chris,

It can get a little expensive if you run it that much.  You'll get about 9-10 tankfuls per quart and a tank will last about 10 minutes each. Keep in mind that you'll run a tankful and then rest the engine for at least 10-20 minutes.  If you plan on running that much, you should probably look at buying by the gallon or even by the case of 4-6 gallons. I haven't priced fuel lately but I would expect to pay at least $25 a gallon.

Hope this helps.

Matt
