RC Model Airplanes/Cars/Boats - hbxrival 1/10 scale rc car problems

Question
QUESTION: Hi Matt, i have just bought a used 1/10scale rc car with problems.
The batteries are both working fine, a bit off the transmitter antenna has been broken off. Will this affect my rc car in anyway?

Also, my rc car's settings have been stuffed around by an amateur and the car accelerates by itself and does not reverse, when i press hold the reverse trigger it just stops. Could you please assist in helping me with these problems.

Thanks Michael

ANSWER: Hi Michael,

Great questions!  The antenna shouldn't be much of a problem...the only issue may be that the range would be decreased a few feet.  The transmitter sounds like it is just set in reversed orientation.  Depending on the mmodel, there is usually a couple buttons that say "ch1 normal/reverse" or "throttle normal/reverse" or you may see abbreviations of those things.  Try to find a copy of your transmitter's user manual online if you can't figure it out or shoot me another email.

Good luck and have fun!
Matt

QUESTION: hey man, me again, im having trouble finding my transmitters user manual online. is there a way to unscrew something and change all the settings on the transmitter?
thanks michael

ANSWER: Hey,

Do you mean to change them on purpose or by accident?  There shouldn't be a way to change things except through buttons and/or knobs.  There should be some way to reset the receiver in the car too but without any manual it will be very hard to figure that out.

I've looked online as you did and found nothing. You may want to try to look in the forums such as rcuniverse.com to find others who have similar cars.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

QUESTION: Hey matt, i have the manual, its in half chinese half english. so i basically want to reset the reciever and see if that helps??
thanks man

Answer
Possibly, yes.  Depending on the type of receiver, it may be able to learn your transmitter's setup.  But this is a long shot.

Is it still doing the same thing as in your first message to me?  I may not have been clear enough on how to adjust the throttle setting.  There should be a knob on the transmitter to turn that will dial back your throttle input.  Check out the picture below.  The two knobs on the right side of the radio are the fine adjustments for the steering and the throttle.

On your radio, they may not be in the same place but should be visible.  You'll probably need to turn the throttle knob counter-clockwise.

Let me know if this helps any.

Matt
