RC Model Airplanes/Cars/Boats - Reciever set up for a P 82

Expert: Ken Myers - 7/1/2009

Question
I'm putting together a ARF P82 and was wondering what advantage using two receivers would be. Also any hints on servo connections.

Answer
Hi Bob,

On any large scale model it is a best practice to use a redundant system for safety reasons.  Using two receivers helps.  There are also additional items you can purchase that will help you in setting up redundant systems.  I am not personally familiar with them, but I've seen them advertised in Model Aviation magazine.

I'm not quite sure about your servo connections question, but if you mean what surface function to what receiver, it is typical, from what I've read, to put split the surface functions of each wing panel between receivers as well as the elevator.  I am not sure about the other functions.

It might be a good idea to find a book or online site about setting up big twins to help guide you, as well as checking with your fellow club members.

Sincerely,
Ken
