Question I need to get an HPI Savage X to run off an alternative fuel mixture. I have heard using 50% BioDiesel, 40% Ethanol, and 10% Castro oil works. When I tried it I could get the car to start, but after 1-3 seconds it would die. It was almost like it wasn't getting enough fuel. I am at an elevation of about 5,000 feet, so I'm sure that has something to do with it. Can you give me any direction on how to get this car runnig properly?
Answer Not too sure about the alternative fuel thing but I'd say its a combination of things. Part of it being the elevation. Less air up there so your going to have to run it leaner. The other thing to take into consideration is that, although I'm not sure which way you need to go, I'd think that your fuel burns at a much higher temperature then standard nitro fuel. Try experimenting with hotter plugs and see what happens. I'd love to hear how it works out for you. Sounds like an interesting project!
