AboutKen Myers Expertise I can answer beginning, advanced and expert questions about electrically
powered R/C model aircraft, and many questions about R/C model aircraft of
all types, except helicopters. I`ve been building, flying and designing R/C
model aircraft for 40 years.
Experience I have been building and flying radio controlled model aircraft since 1960. I'm the president of the Electric Flyers Only, Inc., located in southeasten Michigan. I'm a past president of the National Electric Aircraft Council. I'm vice-president of the Midwest R/C Society. I was president and main founder of the UFO (Union Lake Flying Organization). I've built and flown most types of model aircraft except helicopters.
Question QUESTION: hey how are you
anyways i just swapped some old train stuff for this plane and iwas wondering if you might know what kind it is and where to find the parts the radio says micro avionics inc the engine is an enya 19v model 4005 the servos s4 bcd
The Enya .19 might be okay, if the varnish is cleaned out of it. The plane may or may not have dry rot and loose glue joints.
You could check for a new radio at Tower Hobbies: http://www.towerhobbies.com - I personally use Hitec radio gear, but Futaba and JR are equally good.
As far as the plane goes, I have no idea, as the radio and engine didn't usually come together in the 1970's.
Sincerely,
Ken

QUESTION: would there be a chance would i be able to use the crystal out of my venom helicopter
Answer Hi Jarod,
I assume you mean use the crystal from the Venom RTF helicopter in the old Micro Avionics radio system. I'm not sure why you would want to do that, but it is hard to say whether it would work or not. The problem is not really the channel that the Micro Avionics system might be on, but the fact that both the transmitter and receiver are wide-band, which went by the wayside in 1990. The transmitter is transmitting on what would be considered 3 frequencies today and the receiver is receiving on 3 frequencies. For example, if it's frequency is 56, it is also transmitting on today's 55 and 57 and the receiver is also receiving info from those frequencies.
A new radio system is really called for to operate the plane safely.
