My Montana 5th wheel has the same issue. The material is sheet plastic and it cracks/splits and then comes loose. I replace it with sheet metal from the big box hardware store. I predrilled holes and fastened it using s/s screws. Your choice if you want to spray paint it. I didn't bother to. This is only my suggestion if you cannot locate the original material.
