RV Repair - surburban hot water heater

Expert: Jim Monroe - 4/14/2009

Question
We have a fifth wheel with a surburban 6 gallon how water heater.  There is a on/off switch on the heater itself, under the reset button and also on inside the camper with a reset light beside it, then just to the left of the ignite switch in the camper there is another on/off switch,  we cannot figure out what it does,  We were told it was for the water heater but it doesn't seem to do anything.

Answer
Terria,
Typicaly the switch on the inside, if wired correctly, controls the 110 volt power to the the heater. The switch on the lower left corner of the heater is the manufacturers switch for the electric element. Not knowing the camper or heater that you have, this is the best I can do.

Jim
