Rabbits - how do i know if my Rabbit is Pregnant

Expert: Sheila - 1/1/2008

Question
Hi! I have one female and one male but in separate hutches . But i let them out together everyday and I've seen them mate but this is the first time its happened and i think she is pregnant but could tell me any signs of pregnancy. and another thing i don't no if she is doing a nest or not but shes just pushing all her straw into one corner in the bed part of her cage?

Answer
31 days after the mating you saw the doe will most probably have a litter of kits.  You should give her a nest - a box so that the kits cannot crawl out of the nest by mistake and die of cold.  As for signs of pregnancy - they are difficult to see by an unexperienced caregiver.  After she has the kits do not let her play with the buck - He will impregnate her again as soon as you put them together.
