About Patricia Hernandez
Expertise
I can answer questions about raising and showing Jersey Wooly rabbits. I can also answer most questions concerning color genetics of rabbits.

Experience
I have raised rabbits for several years. For the past two years I have concentrated mostly on my Jersey Wooly rabbits which are similar to the angora breeds. I have several champions to my credit and am working to help develop some new colors.

Education/Credentials
For the past two years I have been researching the genetic color code for rabbits. Though I still have much to learn I feel that I might be able to help others with the basic knowledge of color inheritance.

Rabbits - Bunnies

Question
How do you know if your bunny is pregnant, behavior, size, etc? And if they are, where would you find a nest box?

Answer
Hi Vanessa. My first question is, How long has your doe been in with a buck? You will probably be due to have babies about a month later. You can usually feel the babies moveing if the doe is less than one week away from birthing. Put your hands on the sides of her tummy and wait a few minutes. If you feel things rolling and moving then you are going to have bunnies soon. You can buy a box at a pet shop or farm supple store. You can make one out of wood, four sides and a bottom, or you can use a heavy cardboard box in the case of an emergency. You will need to put some hay or straw in the box and your doe will pull fur from her sides and line the nest with it. If you use a cardboard box you will need to replace it as soon as possible for your doe will chew it and your babies will not have a home long. The box needs to be about 10X14 for a dwarf rabbit and 12X18 for large breeds. Lots of luck to you!  Pat
