Question We have a 1908 3(3rd is attic) story home that is curently heated with forced air oil fired furnace that needs replacing. Can we go with infloor heat at the basement ceiling joist area to heat the house and use that as the only source? The basement has concrete that would have to be removed and replaced to put infloor there. Southern Mn area. Dave
Answer Gas burns cleaner and requires less qualified service, less often. But heating the house from the basement up will not work for more reasons than I can list here.
No one ever regretted installing a proper radiant floor but you will need professional help for the project you have in mind.
