Radio - promotions director job

Expert: April - 10/13/2009

Question
I'm applying for a Promotions Director position for a 2-station unit out of Austin.  I've got a year+ of Cable industry marketing (managing marketing, PR and events %26 working closely with my radio contacts for a lot of contests and events) for 7 systems under my belt as well as 7 years of PR, Business Development, events and marketing dept. management in another industry.  No degree.  I've done a lot of research and talked to my contacts in radio about the job and KNOW that I would be great at it.  How can I best sell myself for this position, not having direct radio experience?

Trina

Answer
mainly they want to know if you can handle a very hi pace very demanding job.
talk about the events you hosted and the branding you did for the company you worked for.
promtions in radio is very time demanding. also show your leadership abilities and unlike myself know how to spell and use proper grammar.

one big thing in radio is the lack of communication in house. so let them know how you plan to tell co workers and listeners when where how the event will go down.

Smile dress nice and if your going to be dealing with more of the Public in this spot so be friendly..

Good luck on your interview... sadly radio is going to heck right now. so if available tell them your a team player and don't mind giving a helping hand in another department.
