Subject: portable satellite radio units

Question
we recently purchased a car that has XM satellite radio.  Now we are interested in getting a portable unit to be used inside and outside our other car.  we know we can purchase a portable unit and subscribe to the service, but how do we hook it up if our vehicle isn't XM ready???

Answer
I have a Sirius car receiver.  You can take it out and plug it into the boombox and then it is adapted for home listening.
Basically, the instructions are simple:  it plugs into the car lighter socket, you have to lay out the antenna alongside the top (inside) of the car ceiling and then position the car element near the regular radio.  I cannot use mine in the car; one of my kids put pennies in the lighter socket and it shorted-out.  Not sure if it is just the fuse, but it's pretty hard to get to that, so I don't use it.
