-----Question-----
how do corporations take over one of a kind stations like wnew-fm and wcbs-fm. why is there no protection against killing the history of classic staions like this?
-----Answer-----
Sadly, these stations may have had a loyal following, but it was a declining one.
Radio stations are busineses that try to attract the largest audiences in demographic groups attractive to advertisers.
Help may be on the way. Some is here now, more is coming.
You can find anything you want to hear on line. Check out accuradio.com amongst others.
HD Radio is on the horizon, allowing FM stations to broadcast up to 3 streams at once. More streams, more formats and more music. HD Radios can be bought at Radio Shack for $99 at Radio Shack after rebate.
Hope this helps.

Answer Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. HD is high definition radio. It makes FM sound like CD and AM sound like FM. There's no subscription fee. Once ypu have an HD Radio, you're good to go.
As to the internet, try aolradio, live365 and kpig.com.
More than 1000 US radio stations are multicasting with HD already and thosands more stream on line. Use Google to find your favorites.
