The man who lays down in the central business district in London (we know this due to the Underground station symbol) could have relayed to these people that doomsday is approaching. Upon hearing the news that the world is going to end in such chilling detail (he dosent look like hes joking), the people faint in horror, shock and surprise. I think its a brilliant piece of film; it can relate to many walks of like- especially those who have been victimized in some way in their lives. Plus, I just think Thom's a stunning frontman- he has lead the most genius and creative rock band of all time with charisma and character since he first appeared on the world stage.

All you'd need to find out what that man is saying is to get someone who is deaf, or is really good at reading lips! They could give you the gyst of it... I find it hard to beleive no one has asked a deaf friend or friend of a friend to see if they could decipher what was being said and spread that word all over the internet! Lots of people want to know, including myself :)

i heared somwhere that the band was keeping the answer to themselves and were forbidden to reveal it... that kinda killed my curiosity

what he actually says is;
"i'll tell you why, I'll tell you why"
but there is no given reason as has already been mentioned

This is something which has been bugging me for many a year! I also can't believe no-one who can lip-read has put an answer somewhere! After studying it for many a time, I alway's thought the first few words were "I've found a way...?"

certainly a great video which makes everyone wonder what he says at the end. when watching the video I am guessing that he says "Radiohead are watching you". the reason for this is that before he says it he looks up to where radiohead are situated. swecondly trying to lip read it could fit. ultimately a bog recognition to the people who thought of the idea

Actually, in religion class (catholic school) my teacher has played this music video and asked us to write an essay on its meaning. He believes that the video shows Jesus as the man lying down and his followers as the people who surround him. Also, the cop is seen as a soldier of some sort. All the people in the class have to find out it's meaning and I'm having a lot of trouble but I believe that it means that Jesus is here for a specific purpose, to point the Jews to the real God and convert them. What he didn't want to happen was make a large deal of it. He knew that if he went around boasting about himself being the Messiah no one would believe him. This could be compared to the man not telling why he's lying on the ground. But once he finally does, this is compared as how the people react to Jesus' message and follow him and worship him until his death and resurrection.
Hopefully I'm right cause this is a big grade lol.

some people say that the man says "E = MC^2"
that he's just laying there due to the gravity of his knowledge, but everyone else is dead due to the consequences.

its either "i see the way" or "i see the one" at first he says "i see the" but it pans to out, then back into him and he says "see the (way/one)" after that, so it looped as "see the see the way" even though he just said "i see the way/one" once.

At one point, the band, when asked what the man said, simply replied "If we tell you, you'd lay on the sidewalk too." Gotta love them!

I personally don't believe that radiohead would do something like that for popularity. The lead singer (sorry, I don't know his name) isn't exactly an ego hunter. What's more, these guys are artists, there MUST be a meaning.
Although I do with you in that it is fun to think about it (just don't think about it too much or you will probably go insane! after all it is Radiohead).

The Just video is pretty simple, really. The answer's in the lyrics.
"You do it to yourself, you do. You and no one else."
The whole point of that subtitle disappearing was so that people would start questioning it. It's a given with any open ending. You never really know. Humans are curious by nature. They simply MUST know what that guy said! =)
So whether you think he said "42" or "Down is the New Up", you did it to yourself. You and no one else. Get it? It doesn't matter. Radiohead are quite possibly having a quiet chuckle over all those people "doing it to themselves", every single time they ask "But what did he say?!!"
That's the beauty of the video, and that's why Radiohead are so brilliant. They make you think.
Of course, I know what the guy's actually saying too. But I might be wrong. I was only mildly depressed that day, after all.
PS - If you came searching for the answer, consider yourself served. Radiohead style!
