Expert: B. Love AS, R.T.(R) (ARRT) Date: 6/15/2008 Subject: MRI of the brain with & without contrast
Question What would you consider after reading the following impression from my MRI of the brain?
"Nonspecific periventricular hyperintense signal adjacent to the left frontal horn with smaller focal areas of hyperintense signal within the subcortical white matter of the left frontal lobe. Additional hyperintense signal within the central pons is seen. These areas do not demonstrate mass effect or enhancement and are nonspecific. In this age patient, small vessel ischemic change is considered unlikely."
38 yr old female at time of MRI
Neurologist disagrees with impression of MRI - do I need a second opinion? Thank you for reviewing my question!
Answer These signals I presume are from the contrast injected into you...this contrast enhances the vessels...so what else could it be but vessels...I think this is why your Neurologist disagrees.
Since you do not have an answer I would seek to find out what the answer is even if that means another doctor/exam.
