Question Had a pet scan done it came back reading Focal area of hypermetabolic activity involving the left sacrum. as the patient is profoundly anemimic and demonstrates obvious increased activity in the axial skeleton, this most likely represents benign disease. However, early skeletal metastatic patholohy cannot be excluded. I was not anemic, had blood work done, what eles would cause this activity. I had DCIS in 2006. Should not have spread. Thank you for your help.
Answer I hope the DCIS has in fact not spread...these are microscopic cells and unfortunately anything can happen.
Well I find it interesting that the Radiologist notices a hot-spot in the area of the sacrum...and comments about increased activity in your axial skeleton and the sacrum is part of it. The axial skeleton is all bones but arms and legs and shoulders.
Perhaps this hot spot is causing the rest of the activity in your axial skeleton...which is also what the radiologist is trying to say. He/she also says that the condition is benign which is good.
You must have it looked at further.... cannot say much more without more test...same spot your docs are in.
