Radiology/Cardio-thoracic ratio

Question
The normal cardio-thoracic ratio is <50%; is this the same for pediatrics?

Answer
pretty much the same although the size of the heart in small kids is obscured by the large normal thymus and the lung volumes are sometimes low because you can't get them to take a deep breath and hence if the lung volumes are small it artificially increases the ratio...lots of things to keep in mind
Hope this helps.
