Question The songs “Sleep now in the fire” and “Born a broken man” seem to be anti-christ. I know the background (Zacks father) for “Born a broken man” but the lyrics are still very harsh.
It has been said that in "Sleep now in the fire" the line "Jesus blessed me with his future and I protected it with fire" means that Zack believes Jesus has given him freedom (and maybe even salvation) but I'm not so sure. The anti-capitalist song refers to Christianity as a conspiracy to get people fear death and abbey the church and the government and how these institutions have used violence to protect their position in power. “The party blessed me with its future and I protected it with fire” which party has Zack committed his future to?
Answer I agree that the line "Jesus blessed me with his future and I protected it with fire" does not mean that Zack believes that Jesus has given him freedom.
The way I interpret the lyrics, that line and also "the party blessed me with its future and I protected it with fire" are related, ironic comments on Christianity and religious justifications for violence.
