Subject: Is it possible to rehire with NS railway?

Question
QUESTION: Will NS rehire a former employee who abruptly quit them?  I was going through a divorce and quit without giving notice in an unsuccessful effort to save my marriage.  I had a good work attendance record, excellent safety record, and regret sincerely that I left NS's employ.  Is there a possiblity of being rehired, and how do I mend fences and try to get back on board with NS?

ANSWER: Hey Mark
Thanks for the question. To make it short and sweet the answer is no. Your best bet would be to find a short line. Once you leave the NS that's it

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Thanks for the response.  I am also considering other class 1 railroads.  Would my quitting NS keep me from being considered by other railroads?

Answer
Hey Mark
It may be hard to get past the hiring manager. Class ones would like to hire Conductors that do not have a background in railroading. Why? They want to teach you there way and not bad habits you may have picked up in the past. I won't say no so apply and see what happens
