Question
sup brah,
i am a hip hop artist, i record and write my own lyrics, and im trying to find a way to get into the industry. you can find my songs here "www.myspace.com/didisimp"
i write lyrics along the lines of "canibus" "eminem" multi syllable heavy type stuff.. any suggestions?

Answer
Well, there are many ways to get into the music industry. It is actually a lot easier than it once was. You can't be just a rapper though. Once you realize that then your career will grow. Learn different aspects of the business that will help build your career. For example, learn how to be a club promoter and start your own events. Have rap competitions and stuff like that. Start a blog on www.blogger.com and call it something like www.hiphopearly.blogspot.com and write about hip hop news. Get thousands of people coming to your site and promote your music on the blog. Its up to you be creative with your decisions and mold your career and get it popping. Remember don't just be a rapper be more than a rapper. When someone asks what do you do you should be able to reply im a rap artist, a writer, a club promoter, a publicist a manager and everything else. Multi task that you will become more successful. I publish a magazine called SPATE www.SPATEMAG.com go here www.spatemag.ning.com and put a profile and we will feature you as an up and coming artist. If anything you can email me at antoine@spatemag.com for any other tips.
