Question Dear Mr. King.
I'm doing some research that compares the hip hop scene from the late 1970s to that of today. After watching an Obama interview with Tavis Smiley <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pFSVG7jRp_g>, I've begun to revise my negative, mainstream analysis of today's hip hop lyrics; it's changing to a more optimistic perspective--that hip hop, despite the "Hip-Hop is Dead" message, still has a chance to revisit social justice. I used to be cool with Run DMC (my generation), but what artists are delivering positive messages these days? By what means, i.e. downloads and file sharing. Would you mind sharing some underground artists that aren't getting much play?
Thanks for your assistance,
Christopher

Answer Sha Stimuli is a great artist that is building his fan base. www.myspace.com/shastimuli. Stimuli has positive messages without glorifying the being a gangster.
Then you have Mysonne. He is an underground artist that works with Jae Millz. www.myspace.com/mysonne
