Question Hello Kim,
I'm writing to you because I work with families and just got a difficult case, I really want to help but I'm not sure about how... and I want to give my patient the best help I can...
My case is a 13 year old boy who just find out that he was raped when he was 4 in a daycare, he does not remember to much about the incident but says he has flashbacks once in a wile; still he does not want to talk about it and his family have not clue of what to do, but he has been engaging in dangerous activities, in a way of getting his famiy's attention and/or punishing himself...
What should I do?
Answer Because this is not your expertise it is perfectly acceptable to tell them that. Also, I would get someone locally involved that can help you, and because I don’t your location let me suggest RAINN (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network) www.rainn.org. when you go to the site, go to Get Help, and then click on Find a Local Counseling Center, then all you need to do is put in your zip code or postal code, if you are not within the states, let me know and I can find a link internationally for you.
I wish you all the best and thank you for all your hard work and compassion!
Kim
