Question Hi my name is Megan I am 18 years old and about two years ago I was raped multiple times by an ex boyfriend. I never told anyone and really forgot about it. This past year i started passing out everyday and it turns out it was because i was suppressing being raped. I just told my family and current boyfriend about the situation and things seem to be spiraling downhill. Everyone is trying to help but no one knows the right things to make me feel better. I feel like at the time where i need support and help the most i keep pushing everyone away and distancing myself from everyone. I have really lost all hope and just want to feel happy again. any advice would be great.
Answer Megan,
It sounds like what you are experiencing are Body Memories, and or there’s actually a term called NES here are a few links.
You’re absolutely right, you really need people right now, but, you can’t help that you are in fact pushing them away. This is a very lonely time, and I am so sorry.
Are you in counseling? It is so critical that you are least working with a professional that can help you work through this. There are lots treatments available, and maybe you’d also benefit form group counseling and or support groups.
Please seek a therapist that specializes in abuse and trauma. Or you can go to www.rainn.org. go to Get Help, then go to Find A Local Counseling Center and all you need to do is put in your postal code or zip code and RAINN (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network).
