Answer Samantha,
It’s Ok to be afraid to start talking about this and it’s Ok to be afraid of the unknown and knowing that this will be hard and even scary. The good news is that I hear that you want to talk about it, even though you realize that it’ll be hard. It’s common to have this feeling. The feeling of not being sure you are ready and how do you start to talk about something so hard and so serious. Here’s what you can do: You can call someone that specializes in sexual assault healing, you can find a counselor online and support network online using a site that specializes in sexual assault, and you can go online and work with someone via an instant message internet chat, also with someone that specializes in sexual assault. You can do all of this using RAINN www.rainn.org or calling 1-800-656-HOPE. This will help you establish a trust, and then you’ll be able to feel more prepared and ready to talk one on one.
