Rape Counseling - Rape

Expert: Kim - 7/8/2009

Question
I was recently raped, I did not tell anyone for weeks after..I have now told my husband and one good friend..I thought I could move on, but I have been having feeling of depression, anxity, anger, I have thought about calling the local rape crisis center, I'm just lost at the moment.

Answer
Laurie,

It often takes a lot of strength and courage to take the first step to reach out, it’s scary.  I would encourage you to call your local center, maybe get involved with group therapy?  Start working with a therapist that can help you work through the depression, anxiety, fears, anger.  What do you think stops you right now from making that call?

Best wishes,
Kim
