Question
Have you heard of a disease where a cucumber seed gets stuck in someone's body ?

Do you have any information on idiosyncratic intoxication syndrome. My roommate will drink two beers and then within two hours, or sometimes the next day, she is completely dilusional and sometimes passes out unconscious for hours, she has no memory of any of this and it happens almost everyday and I have seen it happen so I am certain she is drinking EXTREMELY small amounts of alcohol. She passed out unconscious two days ago while she was peeing and her pants were down and we laid her on the ground and opened her eyes to shine a flashlight in them and got no response so we called 911 and they didn't seem to have any answers. Even when she is not unconscious she is very slow, talks slowly and has no concept of what other people are telling her. She is obviously also depressed but I have never seen any kind of physical reaction like this. I have taken anti-psychotics and drank myself and I never experienced any sort of unconscious episode.

thanks I hope you can help

Answer
Hi Sani, it could be that seeds of many different kinds do stick in the body, mostly in pockets in the colon called diverticulitis.  It can be very painful and very easily infected to the point they have to remove part of the colon.

It could be that your roommate has drank alcohol for years, binging then stopping repeatedly that can cause the syndrome so that even a tiny bit of alcohol could affect her that way.  If she has mental problems or takes medications the mix could be deadly.  It sounds like just a small amount intoxicates her, she needs to stop drinking all together before it produces more than anesthesia side effects.  If you care about her, get her into Alcoholics Anonymous, and counselling.
