Question Since having a wisdom tooth extracted (in 2003), I have been in constant pain; is excercebated when exposed to cool air and when talking. I feel tight, somtimes burning and lacinating pain (mostly tight). Since the onset of pain, I have gone to numerous specialists. Each time I was diagnosed with a certian condition (Trigeminal Neuralgia, Atypical TN, Atypical Facial Pain, neuroma, TMD) I would receive the treatment accordingly. None of the treatments worked. Last September, a doctor suggested that I had leg-length discrepancy, which could be contributing to the pain. I dismissed it and sought other explanations. Well, today, I read several articles stating that LL discrepancy could contribute to pain. I noticed that my right shoulder is lower than the left and the right pelvis is higher than the left. When I massage my pelvic muscle (on both sides) I feel the pain refer to my jaw. The same applies when I massage my ankles, legs, stomach, chest, clavicles, back, shoulders and neck. My tongue moves when I massage these areas. I had a cat scan and MRI of my jaw, which I will get the results next week. Should I ask to have an image of my entire body to confirm such diagnosis? If I happen to have LL discrepancy, should I get leg lengthening surgery even if it isn't the cause of pain? I am so confused; I don't know what to do at this point. The pain has interfered with my social and professional life.
Answer Hi Lisa, I apologize that I didn't reply sooner, family emergency. Leg discrepancy can cause all sorts of trouble with many body parts including the jaw. It sounds like there's alot of nerves affected. Have you ever seen a chiropractor? They can take a look at both the jaw and the leg and advise you. I've had my jaw adjusted a few times and it is beneficial.
