Question hi..i recently bought a home, and last month sent in a few extra dollars to help pay down faster. they took that money and put it towards the interest but not the principle. so, what then would be a good way to be sure any extra money i send in goes towards the principle and not the interest. thanks!
Answer Hi James,
Make sure when you send your payment in that you write on the check on the memo line, "To Principle Balance Only". They should apply the money appropriately. You might also want to call the lender up and ask if they want you to do something specific when paying down the balance.
