Question we signed a 12 month lease after 4 months our landlord is asking us to leave giving us 5 weeks because he is going through a divorce, and he wants to live at the house. We would like to ask for two months rent to be paid to us because of the inconvenience, plus full deposit back? Is that asking to much? and do we have a right to ask for that. The lease does not say anything about the landlord breaking it.
Answer Ask away, nothing ventured nothing gained! IT is only too much if he says no immediately. But to be fair about it, ask for the moving expenses and a return of your deposit. I think that is fair considering the circumstances. Remember, put yourself in the other person's shoes before negotiating. Ask for what is reasonable, you want him to not have any reason to say no. Find the yes solution and you will come out ahead.
