I am a landlord of an apartment dwelling in the state of NJ. My tenants, a young couple living together (not married), had just recently split up and moved out of the apartment.
Both their names are on the rental agreement and both are claiming full reimbursement of the security deposit. What are my options?
Thank you,
Bob
Answer Here are a few choices:
1. Issue a check payable to them both. For Example Payable to: John and Jane Doe.
2. Send them a written letter requesting an agreement on how funds are to be disbursed
3. Send 1/2 to each depending upon the language in the lease.
