Question If i lived in an apartment in California for 1 year and 11 months can they charge me for repainting the apartment and replacing the carpet for normal wear and tear even though they did not give us brand new carpet when we moved in?
Answer Do not know. I do not know how you received the unit or how you left it. The age of the carpet is not the issue, it is the damage. Did you document the condition on move in? Did you do inspection with a checklist? Did you use the checklist when you moved out for comparison?
If you said no to any of the above, then it is your word against the landlord in Court.
