Question
i just found ouy that the basement i'm renting is illegal after living here for a year i renovated it and thats how i found out many things was wrong specially behind the wall anyway the owner didnot told me this and he dont want to make it legal and i'm paying lots of money for this place even thogh i'm looking for a new place i need to report him for the other tenets who are living here also there are 3 rooms we all have are own bath room so he says but you need to see it to believe it specially the senior citizen's one any way the reason i am doing this is to see if you could point me in the right direction who do i report this to thank you

I'm not sure where you live but the first place you will want to speak with is the Building Inspector for where you live.

Most phones books, I believe, have the "blue government" pages at the front of the book. Look in there for the Building Inspection department. If your town is really small and you can't find a number for the inspector then you can call the main number for general information or the Treasurer (as all towns or counties will have one as everyone has to pay real estate taxes in most places).
