Question
I am a NYC,NY resident. Across the street from a family member in Las Vegas is a home  about to go into foreclosure. The owners bought another home up North - moved out many months ago. They had tried to sell but have been unable. The neighbors understand they have decided to let the house go into foreclosure.
I am interested in purchasing either pre foreclosure or pre auction. A neighbor has called the former owners a couple of times but hey have not returned the calls. How can I find out status - and how do I go about obtaining this house. I am a first time buyer and can really use a good deal. I am also far away from the house! Appreciate help and guidance.

Answer
Look, I don't mean to push you into a sales pitch but, the whole shortsale, preforeclosure process can be a beast. You likely don't have much time to make things happen if they have already begun the process. You need to get a hold of a Realtor who has worked with banks in this situation. The current owner may not respond because they are sick of the dozens of phone calls they get once their names hit the default lists. A Realtor has resources to find out who the lender is, where they are in the process, and how to negotiate a buying position. There are many foreclosures in Las Vegas and many people trying to get out of a tough situation. That means there are many opportuntities for some. You need to get started with a professional real estate agent and contact them on the phone to get started. In this case, it's not a do it yourself situation.

Good luck with it. Let my team know if we can help.
