Real Estate: New York - advice on property purchase for NY/NJ

Expert: Reza Ardebili - 4/3/2008

Question
Hi,I am in need of some property advice. I would like to purchase a property from my husband for $450k. I plan to borrown around $300k. I also have a Condo which I secured in Manhattan. The completion date is Mar 2009. My husband also owns another house in Upstate NY and has a new condo secured in Hoboken, NJ. The completion date is Jan 2009.

So together, we will have 4 properties in total. Due to tax deduction reasons, we plan to have 2 properties each owned under each person's name.

Is this a possibility? And do you think it is a good idea to be so aggressive in volatile times like now?

Thank you for your help in advance.
