Question My mother-in-law recently died. Her name is on our property deed, along with my wife and myself. Our property is located in Saratoga County, New York.
Do my mother-in-law's heirs now have any have any stake in the property? I see nothing on the deed that mentions anything such as "joint tenancy with right of survivorship" or "tenants in common".

Answer Hi Nick,
You need to talk with an attorney and have her (your Mother in Law)name removed from the deed. It is not that expensive and then you'll be sure that all your rights are protected.
