Real Estate: New York - Selling my house (joint tenant)

Expert: Reza Ardebili - 11/27/2007

Question
I own a two family home in Queens, NY. I want to sell the house. However, my partner(joint tenant) refuses to sell. Can I sell the house regardless?

Answer
Hi dear home owner.

This is a legal matter, rather than real estate matter.
From my point of view, in this market if you don't have to sell your house, don't do it.

I don't know your situation, so i can't give you the exact suggestion.

Who's name is on the deed? who's name is on the mortgage?

tell me a little bet more! how much you owe on the mortgage?

maybe he/she can buy your share of the house by refinancing.

there are different options.

I give  you a lawyer's number, and see if you can consult with him.

his name is Edmond Berookhim.516 482 1305

if you have any questions from me, you can call me at 917 379 5383 thanks

Reza A.
