Real Estate: New York - rent

Expert: Reza Ardebili - 8/18/2007

Question
I'm aware this may not exist. Where can I get affordable rent in NYC in (preferably) or near (necessary) manhattan? I have no objection to Brooklyn. I would rather not live in Queens, but I guess I could. I will not, however, live in The Bronx. New Jersey just seems like too much- as far as I know it's just to hard to get there. Thanks so much

Answer
It's very hard to get that in NYC. The only way you can get it is if you get into a waiting list. Many bigger private buildings are rent stabilized, and the city keeps a cap on how much they can charge for rent.

It's very hard to get into it though.

The prices in queens are about 1 bedroom 1000$ actually if you get closer to the city.

Brooklyn, 2 bedrooms are 1200$ so you can see a 1 bedroom is about 800$ or so.

Call me if you like me to help you in anything else.
