Question
I currently live in the d.c. area but I want to move out of state.  I am a student and work part time so where ever I move would have to be inexpensive but not in a bad area at all.  I want to move to a beach town and move into an apartment down south, not as far as florida though.  I want my apt to be in walking distance to the beach with many outdoor activities to do around if not on the beach such as volleyball, basketball or outdoor racquetball.  Is there any advise you can offer me?

Answer
Well now...the problem about renting within walking distance to the beach is that it is EXPENSIVE.  The owner of the property has high upkeep, high taxes, high insurance rates...you get the picture. What you may want to consider is renting farther inland during the "season" and renting at the beach during the "off season."  Many beach houses do not have heat so renting them over the fall and winter months can be a bargain.  (Here in South Carolina our fall and winter months are not necessarily cold more than two weeks in late January.) Try googling these areas in South Carolina - Folly Beach, Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Pawley's Island, Cherry Grove, and Little River.  Also try these areas in North Carolina - Carolina Beach, Surf City, Wrightsville Beach, Topsail, Calabash, and Sunset Beach.

Good luck to you.  It sounds like a great way to live!
