Question I live in Houston, Texas and purchased a house in 2004 and want to get a loan to fix my house. My balance is $122,000 and wanted to know if i qualify for a home equity loan ? What would my house need to be appraised for ? If not the equity loan, what other loan can i get?
Answer You can get a home equity loan for up to 80% of the value of the house. Now, that all means you have to owe less than 80% of the value. They will loan the difference between what you owe and 80% value. Sometimes that is nothing if you owe a lot on the property. Your other choice is a signature loan. Talk to you local bank branch as they will be able to help you.
