Subject: Mineral Rights

Question
I have obtained 9 mineral rights of nine properties. Most of them say that I have 100% of the mineral rights and some much less. Is there such a thing as having mineral rights to just for the surface or is all mineral rights inclusive to the surface and all drilling?

Answer
Dave,

When you obtain mineral rights to a property you own the minerals below the surface based on the terms of the agreement.

Real property is recognized as beginning at the surface and going up and out to the property boundaries, including any structures on the land.

Mineral rights can be a very involved issue.  I suggest you contact a title company or attorney for more information.
