you should defiantly read the novel to get an idea of what this song means and what kind of guy Anthony is

it seems every one inturprates it differently

but to answer your question

it seems to me that he was the one that didn't want to get into the fight but maybe was just in a bad situation "soft spoken with a broken jaw" maybe implying that he didn't want to get into the fight( physical or metaphorical) he was stand offish or " softly spoken" and it results in a "broken jaw"

Experience

I have loved the Red Hot Chili Peppers for years and learned many things about them. I looked at personal things about the band members, member changes, tours, songs, lyrics, and ended up building a huge collection of CDs and records from the band, including albums (new and old from 1984-Present) and singles (those on CD from 1989-Present). I liked learning of the b-sides which were never released, and listening to old songs which nobody else had ever heard of. I also have the greates videos DVD, Off The Map, Funky Monks, and What Hits!? I play bass guitar, and am heavily influenced by Flea, and i also play some guitar.

Organizations
I am a member of a large chili peppers forum, named stadium-arcadium.com.

Education/Credentials
I own a large collection of chilis memos, almost every cd single they released, every album and almost all of the compilations, all the official DVDs and i enjoy reading Scar Tissue. I have all of their b-sides and covers on my ipod, but i secretly hope there are others i don't have so i can get a new song to listen to!
