Question
Hello Valerie, looking for the artist who covered the track let me go girl, it was on the Jackpot Label and I think it was around 1973.

Many thanks to you.

Answer
Hi Marcelle,
'Let Me Go Girl' was recorded by Slim Smith & The Uniques and has been covered by several artists. You can see a list of versions here:

http://www.roots-archives.com/search/?query=let%20girl&mode=song

But I think the Jackpot version you may mean was recorded by Bobby James and was the B Side to Winston Williams' 'The Peoples Choice'.

Please take a listen and let me know if it's the correct one.

Expertise

I am not an expert or an artiste in the reggae music industry, but I will attempt to answer questions specifically in relation to lovers rock from the late 70s to the late 80s. I may also be able to help with queries regarding revival, dancehall and reggae in general.

Experience

My experience lies in being a listener and appreciater of reggae music of all genres since the 70s. Lovers rock in particular is quite specific to the UK and I am often able to answer questions relating to artists and lyrics.

Education/Credentials
I hope to share the knowledge that I have built up over the years with others, and in turn, learn more about a genre of music that I love.
