Question i got a copier from a company which is upgrading, a canon np1020, and after plugging it in, loading paper and printing only 1 copy, the machine clicks -loudly- and the paper jams about halfway thru feeding in. this happens both from the paper tray and the single-sheet feeder. if i lower the spring loaded door underneath the single feeder opening i can see a roller that looks like the part that would pull a sheet a sheet into the machine. when the loud clicking happens this part moves up and down a little, like its the piece that is encountering the resistance, like something, a gear or moving part, is bumping against this piece. its like whatever pulls the paper is not able to do its job. whats going on here?
Answer Hi Socky
sounds to me like one of the plastic drive gears has broken and is locking up hence the clicking noise.
if you want this investigated its probably a job for a trained engineer i'm afraid.
