Question
I took him to the vet the day I sent the first message and the vet said that the vent being open is of no concern; however, he appears to be "constipated". He has two palpable masses about 1/3 the way down his body that on xray appear to be stool. He was lethargic and appeared dehydrated so he was force fed nutrients. He was very active for about two days after the feeding and then reverted back to his lethargic state.

Yesterday during his warm soak he voided so at least he is digesting.

He had a f/u at the vet today and the mass is still present. His lethergy continues with absence of appetite. We syringe fed nutrients again and then attemped to entice him with a live pinky which he didn't take (my rat snake is loving the left-overs). He is now on a daily warm water soak in an effort to try and get him to pass this stool. Any idea if there is any snake "colace" out there? The vet is going to consult with the university herpetologist, I just hope he doesn't die...they really are beautiful when they are healthy.

Answer
Angela,

I have reptile partner that might know what else you should do with your rat snake. I'll have to send your message to him, see what he can tell me.
So, why don't I do that for you and see if he can help in anyway. I'll get back to you or I can give you my partner email address to contact him. He is: ( Jim Coles ). He might know little more than I can tll you about the condition of your rat snake than me.

If you would like to have his email address...If so, Please let me know soon.

Sincerely,

Cece Ericson
