Question
We purchased a Golden Gecko one week ago.  He seemed to be very healthy, running around a lot at night an deating lots of crickets.  Over the past 3 days, he hasn't been eating hardly at all, and stays hidden under a log in his cage.  His skin has gone from a nice firm golden color to a dark saggy green.  Help?

Answer
Hi Jenissee,

lets start with inviroment to make sure everything is ok there, goldens come from veitnam in the tropicle forest and need high humidity at all times, so your tank temp should be 80-85 degrees in the basking area of the tank, you can use an incandecant bulb or ceramic heat lamp for this, also provide a flourecent light source 10-12 hrs per day, for substrate(ground Cover)use moss or sphagnem as it will retain moisture and help keep humidity up also provide fairly thick branches for him/her to climb around on as well as non-toxic potted plants that are tall enough for him /her to climb and hide in this to will help keep humidity high you need to keep the humidity at least 70% all the time.

ok diet crickets are good and there are other things to give as well , butter worms are good and even fruit baby food.
for water just mist the tank and plants several times aday.

let me know if your tank is set up right and then we can go from there to see if we can get him eating.

hope to here from you soon  thanks for the ?
