Question I live in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. Today I moved some bundles of dead limbs, and when I tossed down a bundle, a snake jumped out. It was about 18-22" long, 1/2-3/4" in diameter, a dull, dark brown color interrupted around its body every 3/8" or so by very narrow beige-colored lengthwise stripes that seemed patterend like a necklace chain. Its tongue was a bright red. Can you tell me what it was? Thanks

sounds by discription like a northern brown,there 24-27 differant types of snake in the maryland area ,very the majority are non-poisinous,the northern brown comes in many differant color and paterns but is most prevelant in your area. well hope this was helpful,let me know if you see em again.
