Residential Property Management - CAMs

Expert: Susan Sanders - 11/3/2009

Question
Hi Susan.  I'm on a condo board in my community (11 years).  This past year we hired a new management company and later realized that they do not have a CAM license.  One of our board members has given them 30 days notice (without Board input or approval) to produce a license or loose the account.  What options, if any, are there other than firing the management company?

Answer
Do your bylaws for your association or the laws within your state require that they have a CAM license. If so, then your hands sound like they're tied.

As any fyi, one board member does not a decision make. Itmes like this need to be put before the Board for a full board vote.
