Question I am currently living in WA at an apartment complex where we have been for about MO. We moved in and the lease was written at $875.00. I was out shopping last night and saw a bright flyer with my apartments name on it and the price for our exact floor plan was 825.00. I know in CA when I lived there they lowered my rent in this situation. Is there any laws stating that they have to lower my current rent or am I stuck because of the 1yr lease?
Answer Hi there,
THAT is a good question. Sometimes our advertising gets mixed up too and we normally honor what a tenant brings to our attention "if its the same address"..., but if its for another apartment that is not yours, they are most likely within their rights to discount it to get it rented. You would be best off to bring it to the attention of your Landlord and ask if that is the same and why is yours more!
Some managers will rent out what they have available.., then discount a unit that is not renting fast enough.
Kind regards,
-Don
