Respiratory: Allergies & Sinus Problems - Sinus/Dizziness

Expert: Kathleen MacNaughton - 10/13/2008

Question
Hi Kathleen,

I have been fighting a sinus infection off and on for about a month and a half. In the last 4 days I have been suffering from dizziness. A feeling unbalance. I actually fell down getting out of bed one day and it has gotten worse since. Any shift of my eyes, movement of my head or walking causes me to either stumble (if I am walking) or the feeling that the room is wobbling if I am sitting. These feelings make me feel like I need to vomit (although I have not, only dry heaves). I also feel as if there is almost a glaze over my eyes. I can see but it just doesn't feel "right". Could this be an ear infection caused by sinuses? I have never had a problem with dizziness before. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Angie

Answer
Hi Angie,

Sorry not to answer this sooner. I didn't get the email notice it was here until today. Hopefully, by now, you are feeling better, but if not, this definitely sounds like some sort of inner ear infection.

If you haven't already, I'd encourage you to see your doctor ASAP so that you can get a diagnosis and a prescription for antibiotics, if needed.

To your health,
Kathi
